Avoiding politics online is easy (don't log on), but it's unnerving when you get it right in your face. This morning, a 60+ female co-worker was talking about federal police intervening in Portland, about mostly peaceful protesters--Ben Shapiro and Joe Rogan riffing on the words "mostly peaceful" the other day: "OJ was mostly peaceful that evening"--being nabbed, and that she was ready to use the term gestapo. The words "burning federal courthouse" nearly passed my lips but what was most offensive was invoking fascism so freely, seeing as China's ethnic cleaning and re-education camps are a thing. You know, actual authoritarianism. Either she was disingenuous or she hadn't even seen the train station video or the CCP official equivocating on UK TV. The silos are disturbing. And, she's very nice. You've never heard such polite, pleasant and vehement partisanship.

Sorry for that unpleasantness, here's some poop humor.

Hello new followers, I hope I don’t disappoint you. I want this place to feel like home, where we can escape the Thunderdome and process the world. Where we can post dog pics and recipes and book recommendations. Where we support each other as we get sober, lose weight, embark on new business opportunities, creative endeavors, relationships and travels. I want this to be your oasis of sanity and laughter in an increasingly mad world. A creative outlet where you can share your spirit with us.

We might not have any control over the news cycle—but we can control our habits and attitude. It all starts with us. And hopefully a little piece of that will start here.

My therapist ended our session today by saying, "Stay safe and pray for America" and I felt that was a pretty ominous way to leave things tbh.

Thank you Phetasy Pham for the #DropInsWelcome zoom call. I learn so much every single week from all of you.
