About this time last month I got this text:

“Holy Shit!”

Attached to the text was a screen shot, an email informing the Band “Harper Puckett” that they had been accepted to play in the 2020 SLAM music festival.

Harper Puckett is a band no one has heard of, mostly because in their ten year history, they've played only one gig -- a 1/2 hour time slot in a dive bar on a night of live music called “Horton hears a Who.” (Each band played a handful of songs, at least one of which had to be by Johnny Horton or the WHO.) Harper Puckett played Eminence Front.

All our town’s live music has been cancelled, so to see that SLAM had not yet made that decision was really exciting. Especially since I play guitar and sing in Harper Puckett and I haven’t played a real gig in 30 years. It looked like our first real gig was going to be in front of a couple of thousand peopl. Practices put on hold for COVID19 started again in earnest!

Hello new followers, I hope I don’t disappoint you. I want this place to feel like home, where we can escape the Thunderdome and process the world. Where we can post dog pics and recipes and book recommendations. Where we support each other as we get sober, lose weight, embark on new business opportunities, creative endeavors, relationships and travels. I want this to be your oasis of sanity and laughter in an increasingly mad world. A creative outlet where you can share your spirit with us.

We might not have any control over the news cycle—but we can control our habits and attitude. It all starts with us. And hopefully a little piece of that will start here.

Take a break from the politics and check out our pumpkins for this year. My girls are all in there 20's and this is one of the things that we still get together and enjoy and have some laughs.

Politics aside Please blow me up if I'm wrong. The Girl Scouts an organization that teaches young women independence and furtherment gets cancelled and forced to take down a tweet congratulating Justice Barrett. A woman who did her job so well she reached the ultimate goal. Unbelievable. Bridget is right as usual they are dissapesring women. Put that tweet back up and I'll mortage my house and buy a semiload of cookies
