Dear Phetashists,

Have any of you ever written something--a story, an article, a lyric, a script, a poem, an aphorism, a whole book--that you were afraid would get you ostracized from one of your communities? (Apologies if this question is a rehash; I'm fairly new.)

If so, did you go through with putting it out there anyway? What was the result? Or did you capitulate to the fear?

I ask because I belong to an online, international community centered on a niche-interest blog for which I sometimes write, and the novel I'm self-publishing at the end of this month is almost certain to get me guillotined, gulagged, etc. On the one hand, I'm afraid to lose the support of my only readership. On the other, I'm so tired of their ceaseless leftward drift into intolerance, group-think, and general Bolshevism that I am ready to be tossed out. I'm alternately excited or terrified from one second to the next.

Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello new followers, I hope I don’t disappoint you. I want this place to feel like home, where we can escape the Thunderdome and process the world. Where we can post dog pics and recipes and book recommendations. Where we support each other as we get sober, lose weight, embark on new business opportunities, creative endeavors, relationships and travels. I want this to be your oasis of sanity and laughter in an increasingly mad world. A creative outlet where you can share your spirit with us.

We might not have any control over the news cycle—but we can control our habits and attitude. It all starts with us. And hopefully a little piece of that will start here.

Morning Phetasy Phamily! My #SoberOctober ended today, many thanks all of you for the support and encouragement. While I didn't lose the 15 pounds I ideally hoped to lose, I came close at 13.5 with less exercise than I planned but better disciplined fasting & abstaining. 2 More days for those of you running until November the 1st! Happy Friday Phamily!

It was Einstein who said
Either nothing is a miracle,
Or everything is -
A jagged mountain range,
Lilacs in bloom,
A peacock unfurled,
Sun on your arm,
the touch of a stranger.

Take your pick: be surprised
By nothing at all,
Or by everything that is.
