When I last sobered up in 2004, I quit listening to the news because I would get so wrapped up in things i could do nothing about. Yes, back then I was an avid listener of Rush Limbaugh, so I quit listening to him too. 13 years go by, and I started paying attention again, but as nothing more than a spectator, and a heckler. As a spectator, not being emotionally attached to the issues of the day, I began to notice that both parties were like a football game where both sides cheat as often as they can, and when they get caught, blame it on the other team. Neither team plays particularly well, so the whole thing is kind of a train wreck, but if nothing else, it is entertaining.
My peace of mind comes from how I personally interact with people on a daily basis, treating them with kindness, and trying to be uplifting. In this day and age, I'm grateful that a place like the Phetasy community exists. I enjoy the posts as people share struggles, beautiful pictures of scenery, art, nature, ...

Hello new followers, I hope I don’t disappoint you. I want this place to feel like home, where we can escape the Thunderdome and process the world. Where we can post dog pics and recipes and book recommendations. Where we support each other as we get sober, lose weight, embark on new business opportunities, creative endeavors, relationships and travels. I want this to be your oasis of sanity and laughter in an increasingly mad world. A creative outlet where you can share your spirit with us.

We might not have any control over the news cycle—but we can control our habits and attitude. It all starts with us. And hopefully a little piece of that will start here.
