Usually, when I cook something, I don't follow a recipe or write down what I did, so every meal is a new experiment that way... I figured I would try to write down what I did this time just in case it turned out to be something I would make again. I think I got lucky with this one.
The candied hazelnuts in this salad are @speabody 's recipe for Sandy Hazelnuts. If you have an opportunity to try the recipe, you should. You won't be disappointed! I have rebellious compulsion to deviate from recipes, a tendency that makes me a failure at baked things. I found myself sprinkling a little sea salt at the end because I had plans for a savory recipe. (Hope you'll forgive me, Sam )
Broiled Balsamic Cherries, BlackBerries and Goat Cheese Salad with Sandy Hazelnuts & Basil-Chive Balsamic Dressing
Lettuce for salad (about 4-5 people)
1-1/2 c. Bing or Ranier Cherries, halved and pitted
3 T. Balsamic Vinegar (med-good quality)
Oil for the broiling pan
