Many decades ago, when the highest form of social media on the intertoobs were mostly found in AOL chat rooms, there was once an AOL chat group called "The Amazing Instant Novelist." (It might have been "incredible" and not amazing. It was a long time ago...) In this chat room they often ran little writing prompts that were called "100 Below." In these prompts you were given a theme, subject, or even opening line and you had to write a complete story in 100 words or fewer.
I have continued to write "100 Below" stories on my blog. (www.nakedvillainy.com, if you care to check it out.) Here are two that I've written. The first is old. The second I wrote today.
100 Below: The Tale of Urferd Forkbeard
Urferd Forkbeard stood a head taller than the next tallest man in his village. His muscled shoulders sat atop a barrel chest. He could rip trees out from the earth with his massive arms. His strength and endurance were legendary. His stony visage was punctuated by world-weary ...
